MIT Steals One Of Caltech’s Campus Fixtures

(CBS) PASADENA, Calif. They’re laughing at Massachusetts Institute of Technology this morning. But at Caltech, revenge is being plotted.
    The 100-year-old cannon that usually sits outside Caltech’s Fleming undergraduate house, which fires blanks several times a year to mark special occasions, is now in the middle of the MIT campus in Cambridge, Mass.
    The cannon disappeared from Caltech Tuesday and showed up about 3,000 miles away at MIT Thursday after pranksters from MIT successfully posed as movers and then shipped it across the country.
    Last year, Caltech students went to Cambridge and passed out T-shirts to prospective MIT students that unbeknown to the recipients, read on the back: “Because not everyone can go to Caltech.”
    The cannon’s disappearance “validates what we did last year; it was worthy of a great response,” Tom Mannion, Caltech’s assistant vice president of student affairs, told the Pasadena Star-News.
    On Thursday, the cannon was pointed toward Pasadena and adorned with an oversized MIT school ring, next to a plaque referring to Caltech as “its previous owners,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
    This isn’t the first time the cannon has been taken. Twenty years ago, Harvey Mudd College students managed to move it to Claremont.
    There was no immediate word about when the cannon would be returned.

      美国各大着名学府一直以来名争暗斗，除了争取学术上的成就，互相抢夺资源和学生外，也不放过任何「出位」的机会。最近，名扬国际的麻省理工学院一批学生，就炮制了有史以来最大的一宗恶作剧。他们从死对头加州理工学院的校园内，偷走了一台重两吨、已有130年历史的大炮，然运到4800公里外的东岸，搬进麻省理工的校园内摆放。
　  　截至周五为止，那台具有历史价值的“费林明大炮”仍然放在麻省理工校园内，旁边架起了一幅牌匾，上面写：“前度主人：麻省理工”。有份参与这次行动学生，还在牌匾上讲述他们的行动过程。原来他们是利用伪造文件，暪过加州理工的保安人员，成功把大炮运走。
　  　消息指出，麻省理工教职员和学生也准备于稍后时间，把大炮交还给加州理工。

彻底傻掉了

      这个星期不知怎么，突然什么都不会了。书也看不懂，上课听不懂，作业不会做。都快急疯了，一翻开书就想杀人。每天中午拼命地看，结果在几个字上卡了一中午，去问别人谁也看不懂……弄得现在不想吃饭也不想睡觉，一躺在床上感觉就像被一堆高次曲面卡在中间……
     这样下去我真要疯了。

又：星期一结构素描课上，被老师恶夸了一番，呵呵，从小画画就很厉害，只是很多年很多年都没有动过笔了。

      听说Viper的生物竞赛初赛考了第八，祝贺祝贺^_^！最近到五月底出赛的时候，可以稍微多花一点时间在生物上面了。呵呵，加油。

      写物理实验报告是一件很烦人的事情，于是就要想办法。我是一个聪明的笨蛋，所以很快，我就发现学校的物理实验教学平台存在一个致命的漏洞。通过简单的分析研究，我已经下载了几百份别人写好的实验报告^_^，至于具体的方法，我想这里就不介绍了，谁也不要来问我，我不会说的。

      这几天什么书都看不进去，我很着急，一着急就拿头往桌子上撞，哐哐哐敲几下感觉好一点，然后就哐哐哐再敲几下，看得别人很着急。我没什么办法，一拿起书就想杀人。最奇怪的是这么难的书别人尽管看不懂却还会做题，而我却把书都翻烂了都有题目不会做。这个学期的微积分作业已经得了5次B+，也就是说，这会很大地影响考试成绩。本来上个学期考得就很差，这个学期课又难了很多，作业平时成绩又不高，所以很可能会挂，那样我在这个学校如何都呆不下去了。
